    Ava is in crisis: an ex that was cheating, a lack of focus and a family who wants her to be happy, but perhaps in a career that never really was her passion. Her best friend Deb, tired of Ava being sad and depressed suggests they head to Paris for the food, the wine, the chocolate and a new outlook. Focused on her modeling with a mother that tries to micromanage, Ava’s desire and delight in all that Paris has to offer without her mother’s voice saying no is freeing. Baggot uses the atmosphere of Paris: the decorations, food, smell and lights to lure readers into the world that Deb and Ava are seeing, and when they encounter the mysterious Julien, a photographer with his own story and hurts, the sights take us from touristy- everyone knows it to more off the beaten path treasures that are most familiar to locals. From the introduction of Julien to the story takes a turn, initially very reserved and taking some time to warm up, Julien is a character with secrets and isn’t always honest. Although Ava is attracted, she’s hesitant after being burned by her ex, and her ex has decided to try and win her back. Back and forth we go with their attraction that both are afraid to commit to, until both face their issues and Julien comes clean. Lovely and sweet, both Ava and Deb find new purpose and light in their lives, along with some new men, some glorious moments and memories, and plenty of happy to spread around. Baggot takes us to Paris at one of her most beautiful times: cheerful and decorated with smiles for everyone that is best enjoyed with a Chocolat Chaud.
